I'm taking suggestions for appropriate responses for the category of
Worst Primary Lead Singer Addition/Replacement in Rock and Roll History
It could be a required or optional change, but it has to occur to a band AFTER they have released their first album. There are so many candidates to choose from, but list the band AND the singer, since some bands have had more than one primary lead singer change in their history. For examples, write
Van Halen, with Sammy Hagar
not just Journey, or Mickey Thomas. Give band and singer of poor choice.
After about a week of comment suggestions I'll create the poll.

This is a tough question as not a lot of bands I like ever changed singers. So I'm going to vote for:
Boston - Fran Cosmo replaces Brad Delp
4. When Phil Collins took over for Peter Gabriel in Genesis (they sucked with Gabriel; they just sucked more without him).
3. When Stan Campbell replaced Terry Hall (and Neville Staples) in The Specials.
2. When Doug Yule replaced Lou Reed in the Velvet Underground.
1. When Ronnie Biggs (and others) replaced Johnny Rotten in the Sex Pistols.
Although it really doesn't match the "classical lead singer" designation - How about the replacement of Syd Barrett with David Gilmour in Pink Floyd?...good move.
How about a band where the replacment was equally as good as the one being replaced? I could argue that Brian Johnson and Bon Scott were equivalent for AC/DC - maybe a different story had Bon Scott recorded more.
As to Mike's point about Genesis, well, Genesis had some good art-prog-rock, but The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway was the culmination of it in my opinion, and so Gabriel takes the preference. Genesis did have some early albums - especially And Then There Were Three - that I really liked with Collins.
Yule is a pretty strong pick for this.
Larry Gowan.
all I can say....
