Kos

There was a time that I would visit DailyKos every day for news and opinion about political events and activities, but I doubt I visit there even once a month at this point. It's been over a year since I've posted a diary there.

Am I the exception to the trend? I look at DK's sitemeter traffic, and they've increased traffic considerably this year:

What about you? Do you visit DailyKos more or less this year than in 2007 at this point? What am I missing?

I don't remember visiting Daily Kos more than a handful of times in the 5+ years I've been blogging. I had it on my Bloglines feeds for awhile but unsubscribed after Markos' "sanctimonious women's studies set" remark, and haven't gone back since. It's a non-entity as far as I'm concerned.

It's the media -- mainstream journos want to know what Those Crazy Kids are thinking, especially in an election year when they sense that the Kids are picking the Democratic nominee, so they go to the big-name bloggers. It'll drop off after November.

I hardly ever went to Kos in 07, but since I've morphed back into a political animal, I've been there every day, multiple times. I pick up the freshest tips there, on polls, endorsements, breaking news, etc. Those Kos kids (old people, many of them!) will hit the keyboards immediately when their hometown paper breaks news. Like the endorsement yesterday of Casey--I saw it there right as it came down, late night your time, early morning mine. That didn't hit the other blogs until much later.
