What person did your mother or father look up to, hold in esteem as a role model or hero?

Michael Plank (mail) (www):
Mom: Bob Woodward (Version 1.0) and Gloria Steinem. Or maybe just Erma Bombeck, who's sort of an unholy, but harmless, conflagration of the two.

Dad: Evel Knievel.

Mom: Bobby Kennedy. She really was crushed for a while by 1968. Later on, Dan West.

Dad: He always had a baseball hero thing for Luis Aparicio. GoGo Whitesox.

My Mom admires Roberto Clemente, and so do I.

A related question: Why are there only a handful of major league outfielders these days who can make a decent throw?
