But...

Why would anyone put any stock in the comments of Bill Donohue? Isn't he the guy that said: "Hollywood is controlled by secular Jews who hate Christianity in general and Catholicism in particular. It's not a secret, OK? And I'm not afraid to say it. That's why they hate this movie. It's about Jesus Christ, and it's about truth. It's about the messiah."

I mean, now there's a guy that the New York Times ought to be questioning as to why he crosses the line. The Times shouldn't be wasting effort pushing the neocon bloggers campaign against Amanda and Melissa. Where is their sense of story?

Glenn Greenwald has a post on this today, too (although I think you got there first).

The medium is the message. Yes, there's an overemphasis on his comments, that's the real story. They're trying to push the same agenda, culturally. The Passion of the Christ was definitely anti-Semitic. How do I know? The Jews stoned a person to death in those days, and crucifying someone was more of an Hellenistic practice. But, we should remember there is no physical evidence to prove Jesus ever existed anyway. It's just agitprop with the whole "Edwards hires people who are foul-mouthed and biased." I think we all know that most political-discussions in the back-rooms are colorful.
